-1.8°C Sea Ice and Glaciers.
Through mixed media, I explore the shifting surfaces and fragile structures of glaciers and sea ice.
Working with pencil, watercolour, stitched canvas, and maps, I build layered images that reflect the movement, cracks, and textures of ice. Free-motion stitching allows me to rework the surface, while threads are often left hanging from the work, extending it outward and suggesting melting, fracture, and instability — as if the image is still forming or breaking apart.
The work responds to the accelerating impact of climate change on Arctic environments, holding both the beauty and instability of these landscapes.
All works are titled using temperatures, referencing the thresholds at which sea ice forms and begins to break down, and highlighting the urgency of environmental change.
